Hi, I’m Monika…aka @frauoquilts and I’m visiting Henriks Blog today. He recently showed me a picture of 13 delicious cones of Aurifil FORTY3 (40 wt/ 3ply) thread and asked me if I would like to try them on my longarm.
Yesss, sure I want to and what do I love most?? Right.. just quilting away, call it doodling or graffiti quilting or even Mctavishing ( I adore Karen McTavish ) ..it’s so much fun either way. So for this testing I made some feathers and “doodled around”. My machine was more than happy with this thread choice, no breaking thread and no skipped stitches at all. Frequently I got comments on my love for feathers and hear that lots of quilters fear them, but actually there’s no reason for that.
Can you write your name? Fine, so you’re also able to quilt some feathers. Sure it needs some practice, doodling on paper for the win, but that’s my deepest believe, everybody can do it. Try it !!! I used six different colors in my little practice piece and I’m more than happy with the result. Good thread helps getting good results.. that’s for sure. I’ll add a picture of my doodled feathers on paper and one picture of the little practice piece.
I’m hoping for more and more fearless feather lovers 💜 Thanks for reading, Monika
